How to watch The Walking Dead by series
The Walking Dead (11 seasons – 2010 to 2022)
There's a good reason the original season of The Walking Dead ran for so long and led to so many spin-offs – it just can't be beaten.
Initially starring Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes, the series became renowned worldwide for its grotesque depiction of 'walkers' and its array of complex characters. A quick fan favourite was Norman Reedus's Daryl Dixon, who got his own spin-off in 2023.
The Walking Dead became AMC's flagship show and ran for 12 years, finally ending in 2022.
Where to watch: Disney Plus in the UK.
Fear the Walking Dead (eight seasons – 2015 to 2023)
Fear the Walking Dead was the first spin-off, with the first three seasons acting as a prequel to The Walking Dead.
From then on, the series run concurrently to the original show, with Lennie James's Morgan Jones crossing over from the original series into the spin-off to lead the show from season 4 onwards.
Fear the Walking Dead became a hit in its own right, and ended after eight seasons in 2023.
Where to watch: Sky and NOW in the UK.
The Walking Dead: World Beyond (two seasons – 2020 to 2021)
World Beyond wasn't quite as well-received, with the series only running for two seasons,

The fourth spin-off series, Tales of the Walking Dead, was an anthology series set in the Walking Dead world.

Daryl Dixon catches up with the fan favourite after the events of the original show, when he washes up in France. As he attempts to figure out a way home, the connections he makes complicate his plan.
The show was renewed for season 2 before it aired, and featured Melissa McBride as a series regular as she reprised her role from the original show in The Book of Carol.

How many The Walking Dead shows are there?
There are seven live-action shows in the Walking Dead universe.
They are:
- The Walking Dead
- Fear the Walking Dead
- World Beyond
- Tales of the Walking Dead
- Dead City
- Daryl Dixon
- The Ones Who Live
There are also eight web series.
What's the best The Walking Dead spin-off?
Of course, this one is completely down to personal opinion. We'd argue that The Ones Who Live, which continued Rick and Michonne's story, is the best spin-off.
It continued the tale of two of the most iconic characters in The Walking Dead history - and there's no beating that chemistry between Lincoln and Gurira.
However, an honourable mention has to go to Daryl Dixon.
All these years later, Reedus still remains a complete fan favourite and, with a third season on the way, it's clear it has gone down a treat with fans - not to mention the fact that we finally got to see the reunion we'd all been waiting for between Daryl and Carol.
The Walking Dead is available to watch on Sky Atlantic and NOW - find out more about how to sign up for Sky TV.
